An ordinary storage box is passive disk space where the provider holds master administrative keys, analyzes your files, and can browse your records at will. Encbyt provides an active cryptographic defense layer: an unbreachable client-side architecture where the server operates purely as a blind storage carrier. You are purchasing verified mathematical isolation, not just hard drive space.
You never have to restart from zero. Encbyt utilizes client-side transfer tracking. If your connection drops—or if you manually click Pause—your transfer progress is saved locally. Once back online, the transfer resumes from the exact byte where it stopped.
Because all encryption runs inside your browser using your computer's local processor and RAM, encrypting single files larger than 5 GB in a standard browser tab can cause memory crashes. The 5 GB per-file limit ensures that transfers remain smooth, stable, and fast. You can store as many 5 GB files as your overall vault storage plan allows.
Standard cloud apps know your password (or can reset your password hash directly in their database), giving employees a master backdoor into your files. At Encbyt, our servers never receive your password or private key. You can reset your password only by providing your 24-word recovery phrase. Entering this phrase allows your local browser to re-derive your master cryptographic keys and re-encrypt them under a new master password.
Because we do not maintain administrative backdoors or master escrow keys, it is mathematically impossible for anyone to recover your vault. Our engineering staff cannot bypass encryption, override access credentials, or reconstruct lost files. You hold complete digital sovereignty, which requires personal responsibility over your credentials.
Yes. As long as you can log into your account using your current master password, you can go to Account Settings -> Cryptographic Security at any time to inspect your 24-word phrase or generate a new one. Generating a new phrase immediately invalidates the previous recovery phrase.
We comply with valid court orders issued by competent judicial authorities. However, our architecture restricts what can be provided. Because all files, names, and directories are encrypted client-side using keys we never possess, we can only supply unreadable, scrambled binary ciphertext. We cannot decrypt your files under any circumstance.
